Outpatient Study Clinic
If you have been asked to take part in a study on your treatment as part of your illness and you have agreed to this in writing, you will continue to be accompanied by our outpatient study clinic during the course of this study, even after you have been discharged from hospital. Trained study nurses will help you to carry out the therapy as planned and are available at all times to answer any questions you may have regarding content and organisation.
Studies at the Havelhöhe Oncology Centre
The Havelhöhe Oncology Centre participates in clinical trials to improve the treatment of cancer. In principle, only studies that comply with the principles of "Good Clinical Practice" are conducted. A valid ethical vote is available for all studies in which our centre participates.
If a patient is eligible for a study, the attending physician will conduct a detailed information session with the patient. If the patient then decides to participate (with written informed consent), the staff of the outpatient study clinic will be informed and involved in their care. Patients who wish to participate in a study are asked to come along to the outpatient study clinic before discharge.
In addition to the study assistant Antje Merkle, two investigators work at the centre to ensure that the studies are conducted properly. The study assistants regularly take part in the weekly tumour conferences and discuss the inclusion of patients in corresponding studies with the treating physicians.
Since the outpatient study clinic is linked to the follow-up care documentation, patients can also continue to be cared for during follow-up. Trained study nurses can help to carry out the therapy as planned and are available at all times to answer any questions regarding content and organisation.
